About Us
Sixty-two years and counting
The United Filipino Council of Hawaii (UFCH) stands on the edge of history as we celebrate sixty-two years of being the oldest Filipino American umbrella organization in Hawaii. The concept is One Community. There have been many attempts to coalesce the many groups and stakeholders in such an initiative, but no tangible results have been realized. In this latest enterprise, the strategy is to replicate the Filipinos’ penchant for family values and the close-knit ties among neighbors. Last summer, we saw a turning point in mutual aspiration on the prospect of partnering among the various Filipino American sectors of the United Filipino Council of Hawaii umbrella.
Big Island Filipino Community Council, Kauai Filipino Community Council, Lanai Filipino Community Council, Maui Filipino Community Council, Molokai Filipino Community Council, and Oahu Filipino Community Council. When concerted collaboration is achieved as the primer to jumpstart One Community, a synergistic approach to programming, project building, and mutually beneficial undertaking is next on the agenda. This is when an actual forum is needed to hear every member’s concerns and reservations. This is when we will speak with one compelling voice. That forum is UFCHF: Sixty Years and Beyond
